Front Cover Textual Analysis
Masthead (logo)
The logo is front and centre of the magazine, the masthead is usually the first thing you see on the shelf when buying, so its important for it to be colourful and bold. (eye-catching)
Dateline
The dateline is below the the barcode - this shows when it was published. The dateline can be useful for magazine subscription - so readers know what date new magazines can be delivered.
Main image
The main image is of Rita Ora - a global phenomenon from Kosovo. Rita inspires young musicians with her story and persuades others to speak up and take it to the top.
The main image has been partly covered with puffs - although, there are more pictures scattered saying whats in the magazine, like an informal contents page.
Coverlines
There are multiple coverlines on the front cover. They all advertise the stories within the magazine, like Rita Ora, JLS, Lawson - as well as Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.
Main cover line
The main coverline is for Rita Ora's story: "How cool is Rita Ora?" this technique is called "asking a rhectorical question" because you cant put an infinite measure on how awesome somebody is.
Left third
On the left third of the magazine, there are pictures scattered to say what other stories are within the magazine. These include: JLS, Lawson - as well as Taylor Swift and Harry Styles. All of these stories are probably on a single page or in the gossip section.
Selling line
There isn't a selling line in this magazine.
